Understanding Your Event

The diagram below has been designed to help you us to identify together, your required outcomes select the best event to help you understand how the event can be adjusted to focus on some areas more than others.

We believe that each event is a balance between two key areas:

· The experience of activities and the environment.

· The development of the individual, team and organisation.

Whatever the event there are some underpinning building blocks:

· Making it fun.

· Achieving the correct amount of challenge (physical, intellectual and emotional) for the participants and the purpose.

· Building up the right level of complexity for the event (e.g. structure and duration) matched to the purpose and budget.

· Giving the correct amount of reflection and facilitation for the purpose and the needs of the participants.

Team Building Events

An all round event, generally with an equal focus on experience, challenge and development.  These events include fun, adventure, physical & cerebral challenge.  They are good for project start-ups or newly constituted teams.

Leadership & Team Development

An experiential learning approach, with more emphasis on reflection and reviewing (of self and others) to initiate a process of change.  These programmes are designed to have a more in-depth development of self, teams, leaders and organisations using real experiences and will be followed up in the workplace.  This is a good approach where you have identified issues that need addressing or you would like to improve performance.

Fun Activity Away Days

An event focussing on the fun and adventure of the outdoors.  Although experience focussed, you can still face an element of challenge and learn more about yourself and others.  How much you want to explore or develop activity skills is up to you.  These events are good as pit stops or mini rewards.

Corporate Entertainment

A fun and distinctive way to reward employee commitment, or entertain your clients.  These events generally have a low level of challenge and are designed with fun and accessibility for all in mind.

Expeditions & Exploration

An event focussed on the journey and exploration.  We can suggest expeditions with a range of physical challenge (from gentle to tough) or if you have your own idea in mind, we can help you achieve your aspirations.  Journeying through the outdoors will inevitably lead to a thorough experience and through this you will learn about yourself and those you travel with. Expeditions form an excellent vehicle for team and leadership development.
