  • Dave Horrocks
    • Dave has over 30 years of experience in outdoor education, expedition leadership, coaching and training. He divides his time between managing the business and working with clients. The family is all grown up so a lot of spare time is spent sailing or skiing.
  • Jan Horrocks
    • Jan is a Director and Business Manager with Adventure Scotland. Her key responsibilities in the business are Finance and Marketing. She enjoys skiing, sailing and canoeing and is a member of Cairngorm Fit and Active. Jan has recently completed her HND in Business Management and IT.
  • Iain Jamieson
    • Iain started his career as a ski and sailing instructor. He then worked with a local authority for 27 years and was Regional Organiser for Outdoor Education from 1982 to 1995.
      He holds an MBA from Robert Gordon University and is qualified in a number of outdoor activities. He is a keen alpine and telemark skier and a Coxswain with the Moray Gig.

  • Deziree Wilson
    • Deziree has spent over a decade climbing and mountaineering throughout the UK and overseas. Passionate about all kinds of climbing, she holds the Mountain Instructor and Winter Mountain Leader Awards and is an aspirant MIC. She is also a keen skier and mountain biker and has toured extensively throughout Scotland and Europe seeking out remote locations and exhilarating descents. She recently completed a degree in Philosophy and Sports Coaching and is a regular presenter on BBC2 Scotland's Adventure Show. Deziree manages Adventure Scotland Consultancy, providing technical advice on mountain activities, inspecting equipment and facilities and facilitating training for council employees. She balances this role with regular guiding work for our corporate and public clients.
  • Lynn McCubbin
    • Lynn's background encompasses banking, finance, retail management, customer services, training and IT. A relative newcomer to the outdoor world, she enjoys skiing, cycling, canoeing and walking. When she's not stuck in front of a pc building websites you'll find her on the hills, camera in hand with her border collie, Maizee, at her side.
  • Derek McCubbin
    • Derek supports Adventure Scotland as a freelance Logistics Co-ordinator / Instructor and has over 20 years experience in the industry. He gained an HNC in Outdoor Sports Coaching and spent 10 years instructing for colleges, local authorities and corporate groups, before finding a role servicing logistical requirements of businesses delivering quality activities/events/training to groups of 2 to 200 worldwide. He is an RYA Dinghy Senior Instructor, RYA Powerboat Instructor, Corps of Canoe Lifegaurds Trained. SMBLT MountainBike Leader. BASP First Aid. When not looking after everyone else's outdoor needs, he has been known to get some kit together for himself and venture out for some open canoeing, mountain biking, snowboarding/skiing, and sailing with family and friends.

  • Dave Latham
    • Dave has a depth of experience in development training, facilitation and coaching. As well as a wide range of outdoor leadership and coaching qualifications he has a first class honours degree in psychology and has worked in industry from shop floor to boardroom. Work and recreation have taken him travelling and leading groups canoeing, skiing and walking in many cultures and through varied environments around the globe. In parallel to that physical exploration he has worked with organisations to explore vision and values and designed and delivered leadership, team and personal development programmes for many companies. Creative in his approach, Dave has a commitment to providing clients with a positive and fun environment where they can flourish. He now splits his work time between corporate programmes, canoe coaching and guiding and "Leave No Trace" training.
  • Alex Parmenter
    • Alex is an experienced outdoor professional and has been mountaineering for around 20 years. Climbing has taken him from the Canadian Rockies to the French, Austrian, German, Swiss and Italian Alps. He holds the Mountain Instructor Certificate and regularly coaches and guides in the Scottish Mountains. He is a keen Ski-Mountaineer and as a Mountain Ski Leader and BASI Instructor, enjoys sharing the snow with others. Alex also holds the highest qualification for Mountain Bike instruction in the UK, the MBLA’s Mountain Bike Leader Award as well as being an Aspirant Tutor for the MBLA and is also a platinum level Velotech Bike Mechanic.
  • Jerry Craig
    • Jerry started in the outdoors in 1991, his skills ranging from skiing and biking to canoeing and sailing. His sailing instructing ranges from dinghies on Loch Morlich to keel boat cruising and racing on the west coast of Scotland. He has sailed the waters round Estonia, Latvia, Stockholm and Finland. His skiing career led him to teaching in Colorado and extensively across Europe, mainly teaching people with disabilities. He has worked with the military, skiing with injured personnel in a project called Battle Back, a truly enjoyable, but humbling experience for him.

  • Graeme Shilland
    • Graeme has worked with the Adventure Scotland family for the past 10 years. Though trained in a number of activities, he loves the water in particular, and can usually be found on or in the wet stuff! He is currently focused on providing top-quality flood and water safety & rescue training to our clients around the country.
  • Mark Chadwick
    • Mark holds the Mountain Instructor Certificate as well as a host of River and Sea Kayak coaching awards and is an SRT Instructor and Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician. His rescue background has been developed from a young age and he is actively involved with both Mountain and Swift Water Rescue and Ski Patrolling. When he's not working, you'll find him outside playing. His main passions are climbing, kayaking and skiing but he's happy to turn his hand to most other adventurous sports.
  • Mark Ker
    • Since retiring from looking for gold in hot smelly parts of the world around ten years ago Mark has been exploring, guiding and coaching on Scottish lochs, rivers, mountains and sea. His preferred means of transport are open canoe, and tele-mark ski touring. In his spare time he is a secret banjo enthusiast.

  • Claire Scott
    • Claire is a British Canoe Union Coach, SRT Instructor, Mountain Leader, SS Alpine Ski Leader, SMBLT Trail Cycle Leader & SRA Raft Guide. She has a Degree in Geology and comes from an oil industry background. She can usually be found in a boat of some sort. When drying out she plays the mandolin, trains her horses or runs with her dog.
    • Simon has been involved in learning & development for 20 years bringing knowledge & skills from a range of fields to his work. He works as a development facilitator with a particular interest in leadership & teams & as an outdoor coach where he focuses on paddlesports & is now involved in coach education.
      He passionately believes in the benefits delivered to organisations & individuals by the development work he does. He works with graduate to management level clients from various sectors throughout the design & delivery phases of projects.
      Away from work Simon is an active member of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team & enjoys being out & about with his young family skiing, climbing & mountain biking.
